The Basement (Part III)

Seeing Sam so positive, Alicia tries to calm down. And says "okay, Did you see my shot ?" But she already knew the answer so she raised the pistol again in order to shoot again. But Sam stopped her "By the look on your face and your confidence, I guess you did pretty good". She had hardly heard this when the phone rang... She looked at Sam, who was holding the phone, looked terrified. They both didn't know what to do. Should they attend the call ? and give away the fact that four of their men are dead ? Would this bring more trouble ?
When Sam doesn't pick up the call, Alicia yells at him " What ? do you think he'll just think that his man fell asleep ? of course He'll be suspicious and will send more men to investigate why these four haven't returned". Sam shocked says " you want me to talk to him ?" And before he knew it, he had pressed the key and they could hear a heavy voice... "WHERE ARE YOU ? HAVE YOU FOUND THE OTHERS ?? AND THE TWO WHO CAPTURED THE RICH GIRL HAVEN'T RETURNED, GO FIND THEM" And before sam could think of anything, The other man had cut the call. Apparently angry that all his men haven't returned he was yelling like mad. Sam Looked relieved thinking that Annie was now safe... But was she ? Were the two men acting on their own ? had they got greedy ?
She says "now then what should we do takedown this guy ? " Sam replies " Whoa Not so fast, you still haven't shot moving targets, and we don't know how many people there are, and You can still get out of this without any charges of murder." Alicia, irritated says "Well, what'd you think they'll just let me walk out of here ?". Sam said " You know I've always admired your reasoning skills, very fascinating you are !". She got even more angry "Seriously ? you had to say that Now ? of all the times now ?" Sam replies " okay okay calm down, Let's get going then". As they head towards the sloping exit, they see two men standing right at the end, it looked as if they were casually waiting, chatting with each other unaware of the shootings that had occurred down the basement in the past hour. Sam had stopped walking, but ALicia was going on... He pulls her back, whispers " what do you think you're doing ?" to this she says " Well, we were gonna infiltrate the place right ?". Sam still whispering says " Are you insane ? don't you see something odd here ? you fired the gun a few minutes ago and they didn't come to look" she says " Well, maybe they were under the impression that their men were killing us". Sam felt a bit annoyed at her carelessness, said " But you heard their boss, he clearly had told them to FIND US, not to KILL US" Alicia says with excitement ringing in her voice " they might be the men who had captured Annie ! maybe she convinced them to support her or something ?" Sam says " even if they are those men, the chances of them being friendlies are very low, moreover, they could be just waiting for us to try to get out so that they can keep us as more hostages". She replies " okay then shall we take them out as well ?" Sam nods and says " Yeah but you go first and keep your aim at one of them and let them talk if they try to, if they instantly take out their guns, SHOOT." Alica says "Okay... and what will you do ?" He says " I'll stay hidden and provide you cover in case you miss, moreover it'll add an element of surprise".
Alicia nods and heads towards them and raises her hands, gripping the pistol in one to aim. But as she goes towards them, they spot her and immediately both of them put their hands up. and say "Stop, we won't hurt you". Alicia says nothing, but doesn't lower the gun, Sam then comes and asks them "How can we believe you? ". As soon as Sam says this, They see Annie coming and stand along with the two men, She says "Because they now work for me".
Both Sam and Alicia are stunned, Alicia says "then why had you written "run away" ? Annie says, first calm down, let 's get out of here first then I'll explain everything. Alicia says, "Can we even get out of here safely ?" Annie says "Yeah see, their old boss doesn't know that these two are betraying him, so as long as they are with us we can get out". both Sam and ALicia nod and follow her out of the building, there was a black SUV waiting for them, all of them get in and drive away from the place. Annie says " So did you find the box that we were looking for ?" Both Sam and Alicia were taken aback, Sam says " well, with you disappearing like that we kinda forgot about that". At this one of the men whom Annie had very recently converted to her own servants said, "Boss had predicted you'd come to look for it so he moved it to another place" Annie then says " And ? you know where it is now ?" the other guy says " No that's something we don't know, only the two personal guards of the boss know that". Annie Sighs..
Sam then says "okay now that we're safe, tell us what really happened" Annie says " okay I'll begin with when these guys silently captured me, when we got to the second the floor, they removed the tape that they stuck on my mouth, and I promised these two a hundred thousand dollars if hey help us get out of here safely, turns out their boss didn't even give them a hundred bucks a day for their work". At this Both of the guys say "Yeah ! thanks to you, we can now make fake IDs and go to another country away from this Man, he forced us to work for him, he even threatened to hurt our families, when we asked for more money". Annie continues " Yeah so, after that we came back hoping to find you guys, but then one of their phones rang and they said "Hurry up, we'll come after your friends later for now, we'l get you to safety leave a message for them so that they may run away if they get a chance" Annie says " so then i bit my finger so that blood started coming out, and hastily wrote anything i could to make you escape, Then we headed back to the ground floor and towards the exit, it was then when we saw four Men going down towards the basement, so we decided to wait, I went into hiding and told these two to wait at the entrance of the basement, so that if the four men come back, they could finish them off or if you guys came they would take us to safety. Bt we then heard gunshots, i got scared, and wanted to go down, but they stopped me saying that it's too dangerous ((I'm so sorry for that, I should have come )) and then after some more time we heard another gunshot, and a few minutes later you guys came ! My god i was never this much happy to see you guys, not that i don't like you, but it was really very happy to know that both of you were safe. I was so scared for you guys"
Sam and Alicia were patiently listening to Annie, but ALicia now said "But Annie, you never told us you have that much money or that you're from an extremely rich family" To this Annie said " I never felt the need to, I wanted to be independent" Sam says "wanted to be independent ? " Annie replies " I now am Independent ! Plus i have you guys" She was in tears and hugs both of them.
